Imagine not having childhood photos. Many of the youth in foster care today leave the foster care system with very few photos of their childhood. As a former foster parent I realized there was a need to provide photographs for these children. From infants to high school seniors! As a hobby photographer, I started to provide these photos. However, the need was greater than what just one person could provide. This is where the Fostered Memories Network was born!
The Fostered Memories Network is a non-profit network of professional photographers that give of their time & talent to local foster children. Having professional photos helps the child to feel like
they are known, they are loved and that they matter. Because every childhood deserves to be remembered!
Because People Matter is a leadership development organization dedicated to empowering non-profit leaders to drive change in their organizations and communities. This includes non-profit coaching. For more information please go to: info@bpmpdx.org
Youth Villages has 3 programs in Oregon. They support families & youth in foster care be better prepared for adulthood. We didn't know about this organization when we were struggling as foster parents. They are a wonderful resource!
Project 48 was founded by twin sisters with a passion for supporting children in foster care. Brandy, a former CASA; and Tonya, a foster parent of ten years, saw that children experiencing foster care were frequently overlooked during vulnerable and traumatic transitions. Together, they launched Project 48 to provide youth entering foster care with high-quality clothing and essential items to allow for an easier transition in foster care. Since Project 48 launched in 2019, it has grown to include 3 additional programs that provide support to youth at every step of their foster care journey.
